About Me
My name is Donald McMenamin. I am married with 6 now grown up children, their partners, and increasingly their children (our grandchildren!) Should I mention I enjoy the garden, the fruit trees, the chooks and beehive? I come to this work as a counsellor from years as a school guidance counsellor, teacher of narrative therapy, supervisor of other counsellors, and a decade of private practice counselling. I trained with a Masters in Counselling from Waikato University, and I’m presently working on a doctorate focussing on how schools can work effectively (and avoid exclusion where possible) when young people get into trouble.
I work now as a counsellor with people and families of all ages on whatever it is that concerns them, and I work also as a supervisor for other counsellor's work.
I began private practice work 10 years ago working with young people and their families. Over time this has grown to include working with people of all ages, and families. I have not, however, taken up work with couples as a focus and I tend to refer those requests to others more experienced in that area of assistance. May I suggest you call or email me to see if our hopes and skills fit for your purposes?
